This is a one semester course.
In this elective you will learn about Science as it applies in our daily lives. You will explain how vaccination protects individuals and populations from disease, using case studies such as polio, measles and whooping cough. You will study the evidence for climate change in depth and use evidence to evaluate claims made in the media. You will explore issues of sustainability and the principles of ecologically sustainable development.
There will be opportunities to explore Science in the news, evaluate claims made in the media, develop an awareness of where to find reliable, objective information.
This course is available to students who studied Year 9 General Science or Year 9 Science for Life.
