9 Her Story

Our History should tell the story of who we are and how we came to be, but too often certain voices from the past are not heard or not told. The experiences and actions of women throughout History have often been forgotten or marginalised and this has left a void in our story.

This unit seeks to balance the scales. We’ll investigate the impact of the industrial revolution on women’s lives in Great Britain and explore the motivations and experiences of the first women migrating to Australia. We’ll discover how women began to band together and rise up to demand the vote and how during the war women stood up to serve their country. By doing this, we’ll fill in the gaps of our story and see how far women have come and how much further there is still to go.
