VCE Psychology

What is this subject about?

VCE Psychology is a science that involves studying human behaviour. It allows to you apply this knowledge and understanding to personal and social situations in everyday life.   

What are we going to be studying?

The Psychology course is divided up into four units.  Units 1 & 2 should be completed in Year 11 and Units 3 & 4 in Year 12. The course can be described by the following framing questions that reflect the inquiry nature of this Psychology course:

Unit 1: How are behaviour and mental processes shaped?
Unit 2: How do external factors influence behaviour and mental processes?
Unit 3: How does experience affect behaviour and mental processes?
Unit 4: How is mental wellbeing supported and maintained?

While studying Psychology you will engage in a range of inquiry tasks. You can expect to work individually and also as part of an inquiry team.  You will learn to questions theories, pose questions and look for answers. All of these skills would be an asset to anyone pursuing further study in the areas of Health or Science.
