10 Conversational Indonesian

What is this subject about?

The aim of this course is to provide enthusiastic Year 10 Indonesian students with the chance to further enhance their conversational skills and broaden their knowledge of the diverse culture of Indonesia.  It is envisaged that the students electing to do this subject have a keen interest in continuing their study at a VCE level and a genuine desire to make the most of this great opportunity to speak in the language.
Year 10 Indonesian must be studied at the same time. This is a ONE semester course that can be selected in either semester.

The study of Indonesian promotes the strengthening of links between Australia and Indonesia, in particular in areas such as business, tourism and education.

What are we going to be studying?
The Year 10 Conversational Indonesian course aims to develop the students’ skills in Listening and Speaking in Indonesian.
Lessons are taught in Indonesian!

Several of the topics will involve a practical component. It is designed to develop and promote intercultural awareness.

The course will include such cultural activities as:
**Indonesian Cooking- Masterchef comes to Clonard!!
**Popular Tourist Attractions- there’s more to Indonesia than Ketut!
**Film study. 
**Handy tips and expressions for first time travellers.
**Customs and traditions- Tooth filing in Bali.
**Blast from the past- Indonesia in the retro/hippy 70’s.
**Potted History- 2000 years of history in 2 easy lessons.

Year 10 Conversational Indonesian will give you a great lead into the following VCE subject/s:
* VCE Indonesian Second Language
* English
* History
* Global Politics

NOTE: 
Year 10 Indonesian must be studied at the same time. This is a ONE semester course that can be selected in either semester.

* Travel /Tourism Industry.
* Business/Public Relations.
* Hospitality.
* Defence Forces- translator, intelligence.
