English: Students will decide as a class, what theme they would like to pursue in Semester 2.
Health/PE: While all students will engage in all these activities as part of their core Health/PE, the elective offers an emphasis on one of these. Students choose one:
Invasion Sports (team games in which the purpose is to invade the opponent’s territory while scoring points and keeping the opposing team’s points to a minimum, and all within a defined time period, eg: capture the flag)
Net/Wall Sports (Players/teams score by hitting an object into a court space in such a way that the opposing player/team cannot hit it back within the allowed amount of bounce, eg: tennis, volleyball, squash and badminton.)
Striking and Fielding ( activities in which players score points by striking an object and running to designated playing areas or prevent opponents from scoring by retrieving the object and returning it to stop the play, eg: Baseball, Cricket and Softball)
Visual Arts: Students will be required to complete a semester of Visual Arts. Students will be able to elect to study a combination of units during this semester. Only one combination can be selected.
The combinations will consist of the following:
Fashion/Printmaking
Studio Art/Visual Communication
Studio Art; drawing, painting, art appreciation and digital manipulation.
Visual Communication; Logo design, 2 and 3 dimensional drawing and design appreciation
Fashion; drawing, cutting out fabric from a pattern, using the sewing machines and overlockers and art appreciation.
Printmaking; drawing, introduction to relief and intaglio printmaking techniques and art appreciation.
DigiSTEM has two options.
- Drones
Are you interested in coding and flying a drone? If you choose this option you will build a drone, learn how to fly it and how to code it. You will also take part in the drone Olympics; put your drone through a series of challenges.
- Robots
Would you like to learn to build and code a robot? If you choose this option you will design, build, and program a robot. The end of course challenge is to get your robot to perform a TikTok.
There are common elements in both options; these include using a microbit and a servo motor to design and make your own invention and learning to use the coding language ‘Python’.
