In a world filled with misinformation and fake news on issues such as climate change and coronavirus, we need to “Listen to the Scientists” and “Trust in the Science”.
Our political leaders need to make decisions grounded in scientific evidence. In “Listen to the Science” you will learn about how scientists go about collecting and analysing evidence to understand the facts and make informed decisions.
You will carry out your own investigative work, considering the validity, strength of evidence and limitations of your findings. You will apply your understanding of the scientific method to evaluate claims made in the media and to use data and evidence to support your arguments.
The skills learnt in this option will be useful life skills but will also provide a strong foundation for the investigative aspects of all VCE Sciences.
