This past week, May 12-16, the Health and Wellbeing student leaders held a Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) and Saltbush campaign. We started the week selling homemade support badges and handing out pink ribbons to unite our community. On Monday we held an ‘Unstoppable Voices’ open mic featuring powerful female artists, on Tuesday we had a ‘Pink Photo Booth’, and then we had a ‘Pink Bun Party’ on Friday!

At our Pink Bun Party we sold pink Fun Buns from Bakers Delight as part of their BCNA ‘Pink Bun campaign’ where 100% of the proceeds went directly to the BCNA, alongside Sugar cookies, cupcakes and badges, the proceeds of which went to Saltbush! Saltbush helps to provide retreats and accommodation for those experiencing hardships, aligning with our common goal of supporting women’s health and providing hospitality.

Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among females with 1 in 7 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime – 1000 of those that are diagnosed each year are under 40. Clonard being an all-girls school provides the perfect platform to raise awareness about an issue that disproportionately affects women and support an organisation that connects, advocates for and supports those impacted by breast cancer.

We want to thank the school community for all their support and participation in the activities this week! We hope that everyone was empowered by our campaign and seeks to continue to make a positive difference for women’s health!
