Over the past two days, three of our Living Justice leaders had the privilege of attending the Kildare Ministries ‘Educating for Justice’ Student Seminar.
Our journey began with an eventful trip, during which we picked up students from Marian College, Sunshine West. We met with other students from across Australia, including some who travelled from as far as Brisbane.
Throughout the seminar, we participated in six sessions and listened to inspiring speakers.
Sister Bridget Arthur, the founder of BASP, enlightened us about the experiences of asylum seekers in Australia. We even had the opportunity to hear first-hand accounts from two asylum seekers. Kano, another remarkable speaker, discussed his non-profit organisation, Third Culture, that focuses on inclusion and advocacy. Additionally, two members of the St Vincent de Paul Society broadened our understanding of homelessness.
The seminar was both fun and engaging, providing a wonderful opportunity to learn and connect with like-minded individuals from the other Kildare Ministries schools. We are excited to bring back our ideas and make a positive difference in our community.
A massive thank you to all the staff and students for creating such a welcoming environment.
