Clonard College hosted the Evatt Foundation Model UN once again. The security Council of the United Nations is replicated and students form teams of 2 representing specific countries that are currently members of the real world United Nations Security Council. Youth United Nations organises and chairs the event. There were two sessions this year. The morning session saw Clonard College, Kardinia International College and Sacred Heart College competing. The afternoon sessions saw St Joseph’s College and Geelong College compete. The students were required to prepare their countries response to set resolutions to debate such as responding to illegal mining, Poaching and of Human Security in Haiti.

The teams are judged by the Youth UN chair and some may get through to the next round competing in Melboune. A very enlightening day for all students, gaining an understanding of how the United Nations Security Council deals with real world issues.
