Tjatjarrang News

Clonard is proud of the work we do to support and develop connections with our First Nations students and families.

In the past couple of weeks we have supported two of our students to attend Herne Hill Primary School to deliver an Acknowledgement of Country. This was a great opportunity for our students to engage with culture and to connect to others in our community and is supported and encouraged by the College.

This week consisted of Close the Gap day and through our work at Clonard, we offer our First Nations students every opportunity to flourish. This is one way to address the ongoing disadvantage experienced by many First Nations people. However we acknowledge that there is still more work to be done at every level to achieve health equality for First Nations people by 2030.

On Monday 17 March two staff and a student attended Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative to participate in the weekly smoking ceremony. We will continue to attend this event throughout the year and we will offer this opportunity to all our First Nations students.

Aunty Sue Collins is here every Thursday to support us in our work and we feel so thankful to have her share her wisdom and knowledge with us. Thank you Aunty Sue.
