Year 8 Science classes have been exploring how Aboriginal art often takes inspiration from the natural world. Through their study of the microscope, students used microscope slides as an inspiration for a piece of art. The representation below is a pumpkin stem slide and the artwork by Amy Ingles. Amazing work.
In the Advanced Year 7 English class we are using Writer’s Notebooks to write about ourselves, our passions, and our world. We decorated our covers with things that are meaningful to us.
Year 12 Global Politics
This week the Year 12 Global Politics students collaborated to identify the power and failings of the United Nations security council. situations. This included at the hair-dressers, some of your favourite fairytales, on the movie-set and at the supermarket before lockdown!!.
Year 7 Drama
One of the Year 7 Drama classes got active and creative in some dramatic scenes. They were asked at random to act out freeze frames of particular situations. This included at the hair-dressers, some of your favourite fairytales, on the movie-set and at the supermarket before lockdown!!.
Unit 3/4 Food Studies students showed of their skills on Friday, making mini meringues, lemon curd and pastry to create lovely mini lemon meringue tarts. One student even made a vegan version which included aquafaba (liquid from a tin of chickpeas) ‘meringue’ and lemon and turmeric curd. A great opportunity to try new things in the kitchens!
PreCAL Numeracy
In PreCAL numeracy the girls have been studying angles. To complement what they have been doing they had to design a clock face out of an old vinyl record and fit it with a functioning clock mechanism. Here are some of the very cool results.
YEAR 10 PE
Our Year 10 PE classes have been participating in recreational sports yoga sessions which provides a good opportunity to wind down, re-focus and re-energise.
YEAR 12 BIOLOGY Recently, the Year 12 Biology class undertook some work modelling enzyme functioning and investigating the effect temperature has on enzyme activity.
