RE Staff Professional Learning

On 4 August 2025, Religious Education staff engaged in a professional learning session titled “God the Artist”, facilitated by Rev. Dr Elio Capra SDB. The session invited participants to explore a vision of the sacredness of creation and the human person through the lens of art and the writings of Pope Francis in Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti. Drawing on the immersive and symbolic works of Yayoi Kusama, the session encouraged educators to reflect on the divine presence in the natural world and the inherent dignity of every individual. This was connected to the modern inclination to focus on one’s own image, and the fact that when we don’t look up or around we cut ourselves off from God and our brothers and sisters.

Fr Elio also explored the unity of First Nations spirituality and Catholicism and how this is represented in art, He guided us with ways we can find little signs of God’s presence in our work as educators and daily lives.
