We seek family support in ensuring our students are safe when crossing roads travelling to and from school. We have identified that students are crossing Minerva Road to access the bus stop on the east side of the road without using the supervised crossing at the lights. We have also had reports of students crossing Church Street at points other than the designated crossing with eyes down on their phone unaware of the oncoming traffic.
Both these areas are extremely busy areas.
We have asked Wellbeing teachers to remind their classes of the correct and safe way to cross the roads by using supervised crossing at the lights if they need to cross Minerva Road and the school crossing on Church Street. Whilst these might not be the most direct route for students, it may save a life.
Members of the Leadership Team will continue to monitor this in the afternoons.
