Earlier in the week, a group of students gathered in the Nagle Room to hear guest speaker Margie Beck.
An Australian citizen, Margie recently retired after twenty years as Vice-Director of Marist Teachers’ College in Baucau (second largest city in East Timor), to which Clonard has provided some support to in the past with the idea that education is a pathway out of poverty for so many.
Margie has met with some of our past groups of students and staff whilst Clonard visited Bacau on past immersion trips.
The students who gathered, from across Years 9 and 11, were those interested in social justice, supporting those in need, different opportunities around the world and even living away from one’s comfort zone!
