On our recent growth/study day our Year 7/ 8 Encounters teachers and Year 9 English Maths and Science teachers collaborated on designing learning units for competence as a part of the University of Melbourne New Metrics program.
Teachers and Learning Support Officers worked together to further develop their understanding of the competencies and elements; with a particular focus on the Personal Development and Acting Ethically competencies earlier in the day. After exploring their definitions, attributes and how they align with learning and life, the focus shifted to embedding these in learning programs and assessment. This means we are recognising a much broader range of who our students are and what they can do in their learning and assessment. These competencies that students develop are transferable across subjects, areas of school and life outside of school. Strength in these competencies will support our students to thrive at school and in the future beyond Clonard.
