The Living Justly team, led by our 2025 leaders Sienna and Emma, are wanting to encourage ongoing donations as part of our annual BASP Christmas Drive. We have already run a successful Bake Sale, raising over $300 as part of our overall aim to assist BASP in the lead-up to Christmas.
The Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project is a volunteer-run organisation that works to support refugee and asylum seekers who are unable to work due to the restrictions of their visa, meaning that they are entirely reliant on donations from organisations like BASP for the most basic necessities.
So, the Living Justly team have organised this Christmas food drive to collect the necessities to help refugee asylum seeker families doing it tough this year. All donations will go directly to BASP.
Parents and families have options to either:
- Bring in food donations – see list of items below (as set out too in the attached poster) – tubs are available in most year level areas as well as in reception:
- Sweet biscuits
- Juice boxes
- Muesli bars
- Fruit bars or other healthy snacks
- Honey
- Instant coffee 100gr size
- Long life full cream milk
- laundry detergent – powder &/or liquid. 1 or 2 litres
- dish washing liquid
- any sort of spray to clean kitchens and bathrooms.
- Tinned fruit
- Basmati Rice – 1or 2kg
- Cans of tuna – in oil (not the huge ones, as they don’t have a ring pull to open).
- Make a donation via CDF Pay using the link (under the “Fundraising” tab) https://cdfpay.clonard.vic.edu.au/monitoronline/Account/AddToMyCart/ (donations of $5 or multiples of $5 would be really appreciated – we will pass on the sum of these donations to BASP to enable them to purchase gift cards and other vouchers for asylum seekers in the lead up to Christmas, when so many of them have nothing to give or share with each other).
Thanking all families in advance, and Merry Christmas to all,
The Living Justly Team
