Earlier this term, the VCE Unit 1/2 Politics class and Mr Lyon and Ms Meredith attended an excursion to Melbourne. First, they went on a guided social justice walking tour of historical sites around the city that highlighted a past of active participation in Victoria’s history. It also gave good context to some of the laws that exist today. Then they went on tour of the State Parliament House and got to sit in the Upper House/Legislative Assembly and got to experience what it would be like to debate new and existing laws. An excellent day that highlighted the real-life relevancy of studying Politics.
