Where are they now – Georgia Thompson  – Class of 2010 

I graduated from Clonard in 2010 and looking back now, I’m so grateful for the strong foundation it gave me… not just in education, but in the values I still carry with me every day. 

Since school, I have completed a Bachelor of Nursing at Deakin University and have worked across a variety of clinical areas. In 2022, I relocated my little family to take on a role as a Workforce Training and Development Educator at Colac Area Health. If you had asked me in high school whether I’d one day live in this town and have the opportunity to work in clinical education, I would’ve said ‘no way!’ But life has a funny way of leading us where we’re meant to be. I now work as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager on the Acute Ward. It’s a role that challenges me daily, but it’s incredibly fulfilling. It’s a true privilege to support individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments, including the final stages of life. 

The values of kindness, compassion and strength that were nurtured in us throughout my Clonard years have stayed with me. They guide how I work, how I lead and how I try to show up in the world. One of my favourite memories from school was the Santa Teresa trip. It was such a powerful experience… connecting with land, culture and community in a way that is hard to put into words.  

When you’re deep in the trenches of homework, revision and never-ending assignments, you don’t always realise how much your school years will shape you. As an adult, I see how those moments, lessons (English) and teachers (thank you Ms Ryan and Mrs Dawson) helped lay the path for the life I’ve built.
