Last week, the Year 11 Australian and Global Politics class were lucky enough to go to Suzanne Cory High School in Werribee to participate in a Local Parliament convention.

There were three keynote speakers:

  • Tim Pallas: the Victorian treasurer
  • Dr Dvir Abramovich: Chairman of the Anti-defamation Commission
  • Yolanda Vega: doctoral candidate for her PhD: sex policy and power as well as lecturing at Swinburne

The students then broke off into smaller groups mixed with the other schools in attendance and gave a brief presentation on the topic: Freedom of Speech should be Absolute in a Democracy.

It was a very engaging and informative day.
