- Year 12
On the 22 June, Year 12 students from Clonard College, Sacred Heart College, St Joseph’s College and St Ignatius College gathered for the Winter Ball – also known as the Year 12 Formal! This night was not only about the glamour and fun for the students, but also to raise money for two important causes; the Jigsaw Youth Mental Health Foundation, a Barwon Health program providing compassionate care for those suffering from mental health struggles, and the Anglesea Surf Lifesaving Club, in honour of Georgia Brown, a Sacred Heart student who passed away in 2019 and would have been a part of the Class of 2022.
The night was filled with fun, excitement, dancing, raffles and perhaps a few stolen looks in between! The formal was filled with a brilliant, colourful array of dresses, suits and attire that helped bring the night to life! To finally see the Year 12 students from across the Catholic schools of Geelong, come together for a great cause proved to be a major highlight following two years of disrupted and cancelled events. The night – held at the timeless Club Italia in Moolap – ran without a hitch, and we are so glad that all the students can look back on their formal as a night to remember.
As always, we have to offer an enormous thank you to the amazing teachers and staff who dedicated so much of their time to helping this event come to fruition. From those who chaperoned the night and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the formal went ahead, we are truly grateful for your work. Particularly to Sarah Fish and Jenny Driessen – the Year 12 coordinators – your efforts are widely appreciated by our cohort, and we are unbelievably thankful for all that you have done.
Finally, we would like to thank and congratulate all the other schools involved in putting this night together. However, the difficulties we collectively faced, we are honoured to have worked alongside the CLOGS team to make this vision become a reality.
All the best,
Isabella Napoli and Kaitlyn De Bono, 2022 College Captains
