As part of the Year 7 library lessons, which are held once a fortnight in the library, students were treated to a special reading experience recently with Cubby House reading.

Tapping back into the students’ experiences of creating cubby houses inside when they were children, informal cubby houses were set up within the library so that students could sit in a tent on bean bags, or under some material draped between chairs with their friends to read and enjoy the experience. Students responded very positively to Cubby House reading which is an initiative to promote the joys of leisure reading to Year 7 students. While the cubby houses take some time to create, it is well worth it to see the broad grins on the students’ faces while they read their books.
