Year 7 students this week have been taking off into the air, building and flying planes.

They have used their quality thinking elements to produce a well-made plane. In groups they engaged in dialogue, systematically followed instructions and with persistence produced their plane. Using the Centrifugal Thrust Generator the planes took off, completed 10 laps and then landed. They then made alterations to the plane to see if they could improve its flight. Students gathered data and applied mathematical skills to analyse the data and create visuals, and through reflection explain what they discovered.

They explored the Forces that were being applied to the plane and developed a deeper understanding of the way in which the world works. Many questions were asked, and students enjoyed working with their friends and peers, appreciating the hands-on approach to learning about Forces.
