On Tuesday October 29, 16 Year 7 students and three Year 8 students attended an excursion to the Geelong library for a tour of each level of The Dome.
The impetus for the tour came out of student requests in the fortnightly Library Book Club meetings for a tour to visit the library.
On the tour, students learnt about 3D printing capabilities at the library and were then taken on a tour of each level to familiarise themselves with the different library collections as well as the workings of the central Geelong library. Students loved the view from the fifth floor balcony over Geelong city towards the Bay, as well as the red History Research level where they were able to browse the facilities and learn about researching their family histories.
Students were also taken to the first floor of the library to familiarise themselves with the YA collection at the library as well as having the opportunity to play puzzles, Just Dance and gaming. This was a valuable experience for the students to familiarise themselves with the Geelong library service and also to extend their love and reach of books.
