On Monday, the Year 10 PreCAL Numeracy class supported the staff at Holy Spirit Primary School in the organisation and running of their athletic sports at Goldsworthy Reserve. Students supported the teacher in judging and timing the running events, measuring the throwing and jumping events as well as supporting the prep and Grade 1 students during their tabloid sports challenges.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for the students to practise their measurement skills in a practical setting. Measurement has been a major part of the curriculum during Term 1 and any opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world context is invaluable for the students. It also provided an opportunity for leadership and mentoring of younger students as well service within the local parish and community. I would like to thank the students for their efforts leading up to and on the day. The staff at Holy Spirit were very impressed and grateful for the support.
