Year 7 students were fortunate to have renowned slam poet and poetry performer Emilie Zoey Baker present poetry workshops on Monday 15 May in the Brigidine Centre library.
Emilie is a dynamic speaker and she engaged students really well with her enthusiasm and contemporary approach to poetry.
Students learned about a range of poetic devices, some poetry performance techniques and were able to write and present their own poems to their peers.
The poetry workshops enhanced and developed the students’ appreciation and understanding of poetry which they have been studying in their English classes throughout Term 2.
